The Power of the Hand Written Note

We live in a fast paced society and where everything is online.  We have text messages, email, facebook, twitter, you name it, this technology in it’s own right is fabulous for certain purposes but we are loosing the personal touch with one another.  As well as teaching our children that it is ok to have relationships just electronically and not face to face, phone call to phone call or more importantly hand written on paper.

This time of year is my favorite time of year.  The song, “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year”  is an understatement.   I wish we could all live to be thankful and celebrate the meaning of Christmas all year long! We are coming up on the Thanksgiving Holiday and one of the many things I am thankful for is my parents really taught and instilled in me, “The Power of the Hand Written Note”.  My Mother and Father sat me down at a young age and we hand wrote thank you notes for my birthday parties, sent Birthday Cards, Congratulations Cards, a card “Just Because”, Sympathy Cards, Christmas Cards…  They led and still lead me by example, still sending notes, and cards today.

Like I said we live in such a fast paced society and people don’t take the time to breathe for prayer, meditation, never the less sit down hand write, address and stamp a hand written note.  And when I say time, we may be talking 5-10 minutes tops.  You know when I sit down to write a note or I think of someone when I’m looking at cards and I take the time to think of them, hand write them, you have no idea how much I believe it means to people.  Everyone, especially in this economy, when they check their mail, it’s full of bills and junk mail, and when they receive a hand written note or card that was picked out for them, I can tell you it means a lot.

You never know what someone is going through at that moment in time when they receive your thoughtful note.  You could be a big part of their life just for taking the time to think of them and hand write them.  And more importantly you are being a thoughtful and caring person in this society, which I believe speaks volumes.  Unfortunately, some/most of our youth of our time are not appreciative and have an “entitlement” mentality.  There are many reasons why I believe this is so, but I honestly believe that if you teach your children “The Power of the Hand Written Note”  it is a huge life lesson, it’s not just the act of writing a thank you note or sending birthday card.  For me, I learned to always think of others before myself.  To care.

I want to thank my Mother, Joey Rothfuss and my Father, David Ruddle for teaching me for what I believe to be a life long lesson at a young age that has played a major role of who I am.  I am so proud of so many things you taught me and thankful that you took the time to teach me the “Power of the Hand Written Note”.  I can promise you that I will pass this on to my precious daughter, I’ve already started.  She will help me write her thank you notes for her birthday this year.

I hope my words spoke to you and if you haven’t been taking the time to write someone in a while, I would love if you would.  I know that it would mean the world if you took the time to write your Mom, your Dad, your Grandmother, help your child write their Grandma or Grandpa.  Just take the time to let them know what you are doing and that you love them and are thinking of them.  I can promise you that piece of paper with ink is more precious than any expensive gift you can get on Black Friday.

Fashion Fun!

This is one of my favorite types of outfits that you can ROCK anywhere you need to go, Summer or in the Fall  just throw a blazer on.

You can never have enough awesome white tank tops and this one is great is an in-expensive must have!!

I just LOVE these jeans.  You can dress these jeans up with some awesome heels or go super casual with ballet flats.  Love that they are skinny because in the winter your high boots go easily over them!

Now the shoes!!  I am really loving wearing booties with skinny jeans, pants or even shorts now in the summer!  I found these booties in black and LOVE them.  All kinds of detail and style for a great price!

Now my favorite part!  The JEWELS!!!!!  I found this necklace and fell in LOVE with it!  It is SO amazing and you can do so many looks with it.  It is actually 3 chain neclaces braided together!!  It is a faceted cupchain necklace that combines crystal and mixed silver and gold plated chains with a navy thread for a versatile, street chic look.  You can wear all three braided, one by itself or two ties together in a knot or one as a bracelet!  It has so many looks and is FABUOULS in person!

Try the Tracy Anderson Method

So many of my friends and family, and people that I don’t know have been asking me what type of work out I have been doing.  Some of you may have read my previous post about how much I love the Tracy Anderson Method.  Click here to read my blog post!

I said previously that next I was going to try the Tracy Anderson Metamorphasis. I have for about a year now and I absolutely LOVE it!!  You can not go wrong with her workout and the Metamorphasis is a full collection of workouts and you can choose which is best for you.  Omnicentric, Hipcentric, Abcentric, or Glutecentric.

For some of you that don’t want to commit to actually buying her dvd’s yet and I mean yet because you will fall in love with her method.  So, if I were you I would just commit to the Metamorphasis but in the meantime  I have made up my own full body workout  with Tracy Anderson Webisodes that I would love to share with you!!

Start with your arms.  It starts out with her free standing arms (no weights) that you will need to “control” while doing them.  Pretty much like flexing or resisting while you are doing the free standing arms.  This will really insure that you get the most out of your workout and the muscles with tighten and so will the skin!! Then you will need to use either 2-3 lb weights if you are a woman and 5-8- lb weights if you are a man.  This arm webisode is about 10 minutes and it ROCKS!!

This is an extra arm webisode if you would like to add it in.  This is an arm workout that Tracy created for Gwyneth Paltrow when she was training for Iron Man 2.  It ROCKS, especially after you do the arm workout above!!  Good Luck and you can do it!!!

Next is your abs. This ab webisode starts laying on the ground on your mat and then you will switch to standing abs.  Standing abs are amazing.  Just like when you do the free standing arms you will need to focus on your abs and put your mind in the muscle.  Flex the area you are focusing on when you are doing them.  Tracy’s ab workouts really work and really focus on the “sexy stomach” we all want.  This ab webisode is also about 10 minutes and will rock you!!

Last but not least is the Butt and Thigh webisode.  These are done on your mat and these are the “muscle exhaustion” exercises that she talks about.  This leg workout is amazing!  Just remember, keep your mind in your muscle and follow through on each movement.  This butt and Thigh webisode is about 16 minutes and will leave you drenched but it a “Oh so good way!”

Tracy Anderson Method, Best Workout!

I’ve done all kinds of workouts.  I’ve trained hard for competitions as well as just “maintained” for my health and beauty purposes. After having my daughter I didn’t neccesarly put working out as high of a priority as I once did before having a child.  Not to mention having the luxury of “time”. Once I made the decision in my mind I was going to take my health and fitness seriously again, and commit to a routine, I wanted to find something that I look forward to do and MOST IMPORTANTLY showed me results!!

I had been hearing about the Tracy Anderson Method.  Her overall mission of her method is to strengthen the smaller muscle groups so that these muscles can pull in the larger muscles – which results in a lean figure that is not bulky.  That sounded like the womanly body that I like!  She has trained the likes of Gwyneth Paltrow, Jennifer Lopez, Shakira, Courteney Cox and Kristin Davis.  I figured, what the heck.  My first purchase was the Tracy Anderson Mat Workout DVD.  This DVD is FABULOUS!!!!  She describes the purpose of this video “is to re-engineer your muscular structure, wake up your accessory muscles, pull in your larger muscles and shift your shape into something that you never knew you could achieve.”  And it is exactly that!  It is a FULL body workout, from head to toe!  It’s one hour and it flys by, but every minute you are working your muscles to the fullest!  After just a week I could see amazing results.  I am serious!  I have never done a workout program that showed me such results SO fast.  I do however workout 4-6 days a week!  I was and am committed and if you are, you will get results.  All you need is a mat, a chair and 3 lb. weights.  Check it out here!

I also purchased Tracy Anderson’s Beginner Dance Cardio.  She talks about doing her Dance Cardio (she has multiple Cardio DVD’s) in conjunction with her Mat Workout DVD. This DVD is high cardio and awesome for burning calories.  I was a former dancer but you don’t have to be a “dancer” to do these cardio dances.  There is a warm up and 4 short choregraphed dances.  They take their time teaching you the steps and go over it very well.  After you do the DVD once you will have it momorized for the coming times you workout.  Check it out here!
Tracy also just came out with a new line of DVD’s titled Metamorphosis.  “Metamorphosis is a full-body workout and doesn’t neglect any area of your body.  However, by selecting your body type, Omnicentric, Hipcentric, Abcentric, or Glutecentric, your problem areas will be targeted throughout your 90-day transformation.”  I have NOT tried this series yet, so I can’t comment on it.  Yet, it will be my next purchase!

I can however assure you the Mat DVD and the Beginner Dance Cardio are 2 Outstanding DVD’s.  I take them along with my mat and 3 lb. weights even when I travel!

And Men, Tracy’s method isn’t just for women.  If it’s good enough for Matthew Mcconaughey, it’s good enough for you too! Check out this arm webisode just to get an idea of her arm workouts!  It’s awesome!  I do this arm workout after the Dance Cardio Workout!

Hello Gorgeous World!!

I’ve been thinking of starting a platform where I can share and talk about things I love.  Being a Mom and looking and feeling and being the best I can be.  I get asked a lot about the types of products I use as a Mom and as a Woman.  I’m always looking and trying out products and I want to be able to share all of my favorite things with you.  I will be sharing items that I have already fallen in love with and future ones that win me over.  Along with recipes or anything that I think will help you!  It will be a broad spectrum from all great things for babies, kids, Moms & Dads, Women & Men and then the beauty/health spectrum from the outside in.  Please join me on this journey where I know we will have a lot of fun together.  And, I hope to help all the SUPERMOMELS (and Dads) out there!!  Posts to come soon!!!
